My Very Long List of E3 Predictions
E3 starts tomorrow. I've never been excited for E3, but this year is incredibly different with each of the major console makers touting new hardware and flashy new software. The PS4, Xbox One, and Wii U all are trying to make a splash with consumers, and now is the time to convince the industry that each are viable platforms. Wow. I'm excited to hear about stuff. There could be MEGATONS of info this week.

DQ VII Trailer
Dragon Quest VII is being remade for the 3DS, and now we finally have a trailer to show for it. I'm excited that they've updated the graphics and game play because this is one Dragon Quest game that is known for its dated graphics and intimidatingly long story. I'm talking over one hundred hours... at least.
Looks awesome! Come on Square Enix! Start localizing some of you great 3DS games already!!

Final Fantasy II
This is part two of my incredible challenge to play (and possibly beat) every official game in the Final Fantasy series. Final Fantasy II was released within a year of it's predecessor, and it has developed a controversial legacy in the series, but has been bundled and remade almost as much as the first game. It was this Final Fantasy entry that introduced lasting elements that appear in the series like Chocobos birds, a character named Cid, as well other recurring themes like vehicles, airships, monster designs, and incoming and outgoing characters from your party.

Time to learn Japanese
Today I put on my wizard hat and make some guesses about some Japanese exclusive 3DS games. It seems like there are entirely too many awesome games that are not scheduled to, or will never make it the US. Aside from importing these games, because of region blocks, Nintendo fans have been moderately successful in petitioning developers and publishers to take a risk on the American audience.
Does it have to come to that every time? With the eShop doesn't that cut most of the costs of localization? They wouldn't have to worry about packaging and shipping, and at the very least they could do was add English subtitles and menus. I have no idea how hard it is to localize a game. It make no sense to keep games that other audiences will enjoy locked up in Japan.

Import soda
Blarg.
There's a promotion with Pepsi going on in Japan, that includes Dragon Quest X Figures.
No such luck of that ever happening here in America.. Wish I could import it somehow... Amazon Japan?

More news about the game have been released in the last few weeks with pages from Famitsu, and players of the beta. Perks like in game outfits and "free kid-time" have also been mentioned on the internets. Still don't know when or if this game will come to the US. Sqaure Enix has this and Final Fantasy XIV that they're betting to become MMO hits. That's a pretty big gamble. cranking out two MMO versions of their top franchises... at the same time. Interesting.
As E3 wrapped up last week, more news about Nintendo's upcoming Wii U has people either salivating for more information about games, third party development s and technical specifications, or just confused. The Wii U looks like another interesting gamble for Nintendo, and as long as they can keep third party support, it should have no problem selling units around Christmas time. I'm not worried about Nintendo as some people are.
